The latest evolution of Volkwagen’s venerable E888 2.0 Turbo can be found in a range of high performance models. Following on from the work we did with the previous models we have purchased our own Club Sport model to develop a range of proven upgrades for this model and its close relatives with the goal being to make them more useable and fun to drive. We now have a range of products that will enhance your enjoyment of these outstanding performance cars.

Litchfield Stage 1 Tuning - E888.4 2.0 TFSI - 385 PS / 380 BHP



The 2.0TFSI engine uses the larger Turbos and revised compression ratio to produce up to 296 bhp (300 PS) / 292 lbft (400 Nm) in the Golf GTI Clubsport and 316 bhp (320 PS) / 309 lbft (420 Nm) in the latest Golf R.

This high output version of the engine is also found in popular models like the Audi S3, Audi TT S and Volkswagon Arteon R.

Our custom tuning allows power and torque to be increased to over 385 PS (380 bhp) and 360 lbft (500 Nm) on Shell Vpower.

Our fully re-calibrated engine management system, provides significant increases to both power and torque. This customised ECU mapping releases considerably more power than standard or ‘off the shelf tunes’ and the process is straight forward and involves us installing our bespoke connect straight onto the ECU which offers fast programming or the option to revert back to standard.

After hours of careful testing and revisions on both the road and our Maha 4WD dyno we are able to lift power and torque figures substantially, however these are not just peak value increases. More power is produced throughout the rev range improving drivability and offering a broader power band to enjoy.

The process takes around 1 hour and we can offer before and after power runs for an additional cost. Having spent extensive time working with our own E888.4 Equipped GTI Clubsport since the software launch we have made sure our engine calibration insures the very best balance between performance and reliability. With such large power available through the front wheels careful attention has been made to the delivery of the new performance to maximise traction in each gear.

With many E888.4 2.0 TSI engines combined with the excellent DSG gearbox we also provide an upgrade to this TCU calibration which improves torque management, clutch control and shifting performance. Further TCU tuning is available through TVS gearbox solutions.

Litchfield Stage 2 Tuning - E888.4 2.0 TFSI - Up to 440 PS / 436 BHP



E888.4 2.0TFSI Stage 2 tuning (Up to 440PS / 436bhp)

Stage 2 for the latest high output TFSI engine see revised ECU and DSG calibration work combined with proven upgrades which allow the engine to breath more easily with a different exhaust options.

To allow the engine to consume cold air effectively we replace the original air box with the proven R600 intake kit and this is connected to a larger bore turbo intake pipe which removes the restrictive original item with a +10mm larger pipe with provides a smooth transition into the turbo. These provide a noticeable improvement in not only power but throttle response and turbo spool time. The factory intercooler is also replaced by the much larger Intercooler kit (83% size increase) that dramatically reduces the inlet temperatures entering the engine and provides a more consistent and reliable base to deliver more power. As the front bumper is removed to install the intercooler the price includes recalibrating the ADAS safety and active cruise control systems along with providing a certificate should you insurance company require it.

At the same time the addition a performance exhaust system (options available) helps reduce the back pressure on the turbo whilst enhancing the sound and purpose of the engine under acceleration.

With the installation of either the Sport CAT or Motorsport use De-Cat option we also include our Fast Road 4 wheel alignment as the front subframe is disturbed during the downpipe installation.

The Litchfield Stage 2 upgrade offers a significant improvement in engine performance and driveability. Careful calibration work has gone into shaping the torque maps to suit both the 2wd and 4wd models.

Whilst the peak values remain the same the way the power is delivered is different between models and per gear to suit the number of driven wheels. The peak numbers vary depending on the Downpipe option chosen to suit both noise emission requirements and all have been thoroughly tested on our own development vehicle. The Stage 2 upgrade that utilises the standard downpipe produces 405 PS (400bhp) and a smooth 390lbft. To maintain MOT compliance we can install a Sport CAT downpipe which allows the engine to breath more freely and produce around 435PS (430bhp) and 400lbft. The final option is the Motorsport use DE-CAT option that removes all the restrictions in the exhaust and provides a marginal increase in power and torque to 440PS (436bhp) and 408lbft.

The 2.0 TSI engine in standard form produces up to 242 bhp (245 PS) / 272 lbft (370 Nm) and is found in popular models like the Golf VIII Mk8, Audi TT and Skoda Kodiak RS.

The Stage 2 upgrade that utilises the standard downpipe and produces 340 PS (335bhp) and a smooth 345lbft (470Nm). To maintain MOT compliance we can install a Sport CAT downpipe which allows the engine to breath more freely and produce around 345PS (340bhp) and 350lbft (475Nm). The final option is the Motorsport use DE-CAT option that removes all the restrictions in the exhaust and provides a marginal increase in power and torque to 350PS (345bhp) and 360lbft (488Nm).

With our extensive experience with these cars we are happy to provide a comprehensive 12 month engine warranty program. Our Warranty package is aimed at road use and looks to remove the fear of expensive bills should a mechanical failure of the engine occur.

All engine components are covered so whether you have a seal, turbo or a piston failure we will be there to repair the car. We have tried to make the warranty as straight forward and comprehensive as possible.

Having owned our own 2.0 TSi/TFSi development models we have a huge amount of experience of tuning these amazing engines and our commitment to testing and developing proven products on our own vehicles has given us an excellent reliability record even on the most highly tuned engines. We are therefore planning to extend our warranty program to cover some of our additional levels of tune (subject to our terms and conditions).


Buy & Sell with Confidence

The warranty package is also transferable (subject to our T&Cs) to the next owner so it means the car can be bought and sold with full confidence with the knowledge that Litchfield are there to support the car in the unlikely event a problem arises.

What isn’t covered

Full terms and conditions are provided with all VW 2.0 Engine Warranty packages but in brief:

As the name suggests this 12 month cover starts from the time the upgrade is installed and covers the engine components only. We do not cover the clutch assembly.

Service parts for the engine are not covered.

The Litchfield engine warranty is aimed at road car support and is not designed for Motorsport, trails, competition or sprint engine cover. Circuit use put additional strain on all mechanical parts and the chances of driver error are also increased. Circuit use is not covered.

Over revving or miss shifting is not covered. If the driver makes an error changing gear by dropping into too low a gear while down changing this will cause the engine to over rev and this can lead to engine damage. This is not covered.

Wear and tear items are not included.

The vehicle must follow the VW service plan or have servicing completed by official VW dealers or at Litchfield. Litchfield will not cover engines serviced at other garages or at home.

The vehicle must be returned to Litchfield for the warranty inspection work to be started. The vehicle must not be worked on by another garage or the owner prior to Litchfield inspecting the car for a warranty claim.

In order to transfer the warranty Litchfield require an inspection of the vehicle and contact details of the new owner

Vehicles sold within the Motor trade will require the selling dealer to support their customers statutory rights, Litchfield do not provide trade warranties.
