World Touring Car driver Tom Chilton first came to us at the end of 2012 seeking improvements on his own Nissan GTR. As Tom uses the car for his ‘Hot Laps’ passenger rides a key requirement was performance and reliability.
The standard Nissan GTR brakes perform well under normal road conditions but can fade and wilt quickly under heavy track use. It was therefore a vital requirement to improve the brakes on Tom’s car. We fitted the Alcon Superkit with Pagid pads, forming a formidable combination which has a proven track record of consistent high performance on the road and track. For Tom, the improvements were obvious and immediately fulfilled his requirements.
Since that first addition, we have raised the power to 620 bhp with our popular Stage 4 upgrade which features larger air intakes and MAF housing, Milltek exhaust, 1,100 cc Bosch injectors and custom Litchfield version 4 Motorsport engine remap with Litchfield Traction Control.
Our Stage 4 was then augmented with further additions. Tom was clear in his desire to improve the on-track handling characteristics and with our critically acclaimed Litchfield Supsension Kit. Our suspension combined with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres has completely transformed the car.
For cars that see regular track use we recommend improving the standard cooling. On Tom’s car we installed the Forge intercooler which is 102% larger than standard along with the transmission cooler.
Needless to say Tom was delighted with the improvements which have certainly been put to good use taking passengers on track that included a test day at Castle Combe with ourselves and Rob Huff in his Litchfield LM700 (video below). There is also a video of Tom taking his brother, F1 driver Max Chilton, out on track in his Litchfield prepared GTR.
