Litchfield have continually invested in the tools and machines to enable our technicians to change the large, low profile tyres found on the R35 GT-R. We have the same equipment as Nissan and Ferrari (with Nitrogen filling) along with the ability to replace, re-envigorate, code and clone the different TPMS sensors found in all R35 GT-Rs. We recommend moving away from the standard runflat Dunlop or Bridgestone tyres, especially for road use, and to consider either the Michelin or Yokohama options below.
Aimed mainly at track use the Michelin Cup 2 is now being specified on many high-end cars for road use and is available in limited numbers through Litchfield. The Cup 2 was standard fit on the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Porsche 918 and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black amongst others. The Cup 2 is a superb semi-slick track tyre which works brilliantly on the GT-R.
The Cup 2 is built from two different compounds: a high molecular chain elastomer on the exterior for high grip and a rigid elastomer for the interior giving precise steering and control. The exterior elastomer also reinforces the shoulder of the tyre for greatly improved endurance.
We have been rigorously testing the Cup 2 now for over 2 years, completing many miles of track and road use, including our 200+ mph world record August 2014.
Created to provide super sport performance, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S has received top marks in independent tyre tests, evaluating a range of desired sports car driving characteristics. This tyre replaced the hugely popular Super Sport in Spring 2017.
Michelin have created the Pilot Sport 4S with an ultra-reactive tread pattern design, adapting continuously to the road - in order to deliver an optimised surface footprint.
The Pilot Sport 4S features Michelin 'Dynamic Response' technology – made from a hybrid belt of aramid and nylon to provide motorists with optimum handling performance.
Exceptional dry grip and improved wet braking have been achieved thanks to the use of Bi-Compound technology. The tyre features a novel hybrid elastomer for dry grip and a new mix of compounds with specific “functional elastomers” and silica for wet grip and braking.
