We can’t think of a more anticipated car and when our two Toyota GR Yaris development cars arrived at the end of 2020 we were thrilled that the hype was real. The goal was to make the GR Yaris more useable and fun to drive. We now have a range of products that will enhance your enjoyment of this outstanding performance car.
When the Yaris was first released the standard ECU could not be tuned so our customers only had the choice of our popular tuning box and a high end Syvecs replacement ECU. We are now able to tune the standard ECU and we have worked hard to put together all that we have learnt with our own Yaris’s and the high power development we have already completed.
We will have more information on the development of these and many more new GR Yaris products on our blog and Social Media channels, but below are our initial performance upgrades.
Our custom tuning allows power and torque to be increased from Toyota’s claimed 257bhp/265lbft to over 320bhp and 300lbft on Shell Vpower.
Our fully re-calibrated engine management system, provides significant increases to both power and torque. This customised ECU mapping uses the latest Ecutek software which we have helped develop and it releases considerably more power than standard or ‘off the shelf tunes’ and the process is straight forward and involves us installing our bespoke connect straight onto the ECU which offers fast programming or the option to revert back to standard.
After hours of careful testing and revisions on both the road and our Maha 4WD dyno with our own GR Yaris we are able to lift power and torque figures substantially to 320 bhp (+63bhp) and 300lbft/406Nm (+35lbft/47Nm). However, these are not just peak value increases. More power is produced throughout the rev range improving drivability and offering a broader power band to enjoy.
The process takes around 1 hour and we can offer before and after power runs for an additional cost.
Having worked with our own GR Yaris development cars since their launch and having spent considerable time working on the engine calibration development both the standard and aftermarket ECU we are confident in providing our Stage 1 Yaris tune with an additional 12 month engine warranty. Includes fitting & 12 month warranty
With our extensive experience with these cars since their launch we are happy to provide a comprehensive 12 month engine warranty program. Our Warranty package is aimed at road use and looks to remove the fear of expensive bills should a mechanical failure occur.
All engine components are covered so whether you have a seal, turbo or a piston failure we will be there to repair the car. We have tried to make the warranty as straight forward and comprehensive as possible.
Having owned our own GR Yaris development models since their launch we have a huge amount of experience of tuning these amazing cars and our commitment to testing and developing proven products on our own vehicles has given us an amazing reliability record even on the most highly tuned engines. We are therefore planning to extend our warranty program to cover some of our additional levels of tune (subject to our terms and conditions).
The warranty package is also transferable (subject to our T&Cs) to the next owner so it means the car can be bought and sold with full confidence with the knowledge that Litchfield are there to support the car in the unlikely event a problem arises.
Full terms and conditions are provided with all GR Yaris Engine Warranty packages but in brief:
Our custom tuning box allows power and torque to be increased from Toyota’s claimed 257bhp/265lbft to over 300bhp and 290lbft on Shell Vpower.
Our Tuning box features our own custom calibration that the power delivery smooth and predictable with the additional boost at the top of the rev range making it pull much more urgently to the red line. The box is also Bluetooth enabled so you can connect to the box with a smart phone and switch instantly between standard and 300bhp modes.
The box is a simple plug & play design which allows for quick installation (and removal) in around 10 minutes.
Includes fitting.
A full direct fit ECU Kit without compromise.
The Syvecs Toyota GR Yaris kit brings a new level of engine management control to the GR Yaris. Designed to work from a factory car to the highest level of motorsport. We have been helping Syvecs with the development and have this powerful ECU installed in our demonstrator. With the standard ECU not able to be tuned in the short term the Syvecs offers the complete solution to owners looking to maximise the performance with an ECU which can easily be reprogrammed as additional modifications are made. The Syvecs ECU also comes with detailed data logging which allows the tuner and driver to quickly download and review how the engine is performing.
The Syvecs ECU also does not bring on additional warning lights on the dash and displays the different map settings on the OE dashboard. For those cars fitted with a Flex fuel sensor to allow Ethanol to be used it even displays the Ethanol content Percentage on the instrument gauge.
Litchfield are very experienced in Syvecs tuning and its GR Yaris application so we can provide a full installation and mapping service.

The Syvecs plug in ECU provides the following features:
Introducing the new Syvecs Toyota Yaris GR AWD module which is a standalone AWD/4WD/Centre Diff controller designed to control any AWD/4WD Solenoid/Motor to a maximum of 30 Amps via pin sharing logic.
OEM designed controllers are locked down and not adjustable, but by fitting a Syvecs AWD Controller a whole new level of control is available. The unit allows users to optimise control and provide the best stability, acceleration performance and custom control.
With the use of our Scal Software, users can connect to the Device and adjust over 40 maps to adjust the control of the solenoids/motors used in the AWD systems.
The Yaris GR version of the controller replicates all the OEM CAN information as well as pick up lots of variable from the OEM Can to link into the control strategies like Steering Angle, Brake Pressure, Rpm, Tps, Lateral G, Yaw, Long G, Speeds, Temperatures and mode switches
The Sport Mode Button on the Yaris is used for Map switching so allows users to be able to change between Awd Select 1, 2 and 3 which means all the maps below can be adjusted. You can also enable the burnout mode to be active when Hazards, Handbrake or external switch is active.

The ITG performance air filter is a direct replacement for the original paper air filter. The high quality foam design can be found on motorsport filters from WRC to F1 and allows the engine to breath more easily.
Compared to a brand new paper filter the ITG design allows for an additional flow at the top of the rev range with a 2-3bhp improvement but the main gain was in the area at the bottom of the rev range where the turbos is able to spool up faster. This gave a useful 10lbft improvement between 2,000rpm – 3,000rpm.
Simple to fit this washable foam filter makes future service maintence straight forward and more cost effective.
The award-winning Kompact EM series Blow-Off Valves, are the world’s first truly plug and play Blow-Off Valves. Simply unplug and unbolt your OEM Blow-Off Valve, and install ours in its place. No adapters, hoses or extra assembly required. All this while retaining complete OE control of the BOV’s operation. Turbocharger performance is increased due to minimising leakage, rapid response, coupled with superior thermal performance thanks to our world-leading engineering and simulation abilities. Dual Port vents both to the atmosphere and back into the air intake.
Key Features Include:
Dual Port vents both to the atmosphere and back into the air intake. Suitable for the XP210 Gazoo Racing (GR) Yaris and other Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
The GR Yaris makes fantastic power for a standard 3 cylinder 1.6 engine but like most Japanese cars they have become increasingly popular to tune and push hard on track. This more extreme use has exposed a weakness of the standard valvetrain which can cause the failures especially at high revs. Significantly increased boost levels can also cause valve float.
We strongly recommend all customers using a tuned car on track have upgraded valve springs installed to help safeguard against these problems. Kelford’s proven solution provides a stronger valve spring and lighter Titanium retainers.
